| | FAQSFrequently Asked Question's Q/ I have carefully read the installation guide with my new CISS and are still a little confused on how and where to install the ink supply tubing in my printer. When I try it also seems to be jamming. What can I do? A/ The installation guide included with your CISS provides in detail the installation process of correctly installing your new CISS and guides to setting the ink supply tubes correctly in your printer. If further information is required, please visit our ¡°CISS Installation¡± section located on this web-site that provides a Video of the general installation process for CISS and PDF installation guides for most models. When installing the ink supply tubes inside your printer, always remember to check that there is enough ¡°Length¡± for the ink supply tube in your printer to move freely when the printer cartridge holder is in motion. *Note: Once you think that the tubing is in the correct place, move the printer cartridge holder to the furthest end to ensure enough length has been allowed for and that the ink supply tube cannot get caught or jammed in the printer while it is in motion. To allow the printer cartridge holder to be in ¡°free spool¡± please refer to A/ in below question. Q/ I have installed CISS into my new printer and have been given the error of ¡°Incompatible Cartridges¡± and my ink level shows very low. Is there something wrong with the ink cartridges? A/ No. This problem normally occurs when CISS has been previously installed, then removed and installed again (which your user guide asks you not to do) which the printer and computer get hopelessly confused. It can also occur if the printer hasn¡¯t been used for a long period of time and if this is the case, the first thing to do, is turn off the printer and then on again which normally resolves this. (you may have to do this a couple of times or so depending what type of printer you have) If this fails, turn the printer off again and leave it for no less than 3 minutes before turning it on again. (it could be necessary to do this several times but highly unlikely). If all else fails, then follow these instructions: To resolve this communication error we need to re-set the printer and computer. First step, turn off the power button and while the printer cartridge holder is moving, pull out the power cord. This will now put the printer cartridge holder into free spool so that you can slide it by hand to remove the CISS. Second step, remove the CISS system from your printer. Third step, shut down the computer and re-start to clear the printer set up memory. While waiting for the PC to re-start, check and clean the micro chip on each inkjet cartridge with mentholated spirits (where fitted) and examine for dirt, damage or scratching as this may cause the printer not to be able to read the cartridge. Ensure the chip is not loose and is flat with the surface of the cartridge edge in which it has been applied to. Next step, is to re-connect the power cord to the printer. Before doing this, ensure that the power cord has been disconnected form your printer for no less than 7 minutes ensuring the printer memory has been restored to default. (Note: some printers may need to be left over night to obtain a full default memory clear. This rule applies to the re-setting process for both replacement cartridges and your CISS system cartridges in the event they have been removed while only partly used.) Once re-connected, turn on the empty printer. When and if the printer asks you to install a new cartridge/s¡± (if you have this type of printer) proceed to install the CISS as per your general cartridge installation process and CISS installation process as to the installation guide. If you would normally install an ink cartridge by following the computer replacement cartridges steps such as with an Epson printer, follow these steps and complete the re-installing your CISS in conjunction with your user guide. Once this has been done you should now be all set to print. If problems persist, you may possibly have a faulty chip. This particular method of ¡°re-setting¡± is commonly used on a variety of different printer models. Before attempting this method for your printer always refer to your instruction guide as some printer models are specific in there re-setting techniques and may only work one way. Q/ I have followed the above instructions carefully and checked for an alternative re-setting for my printer but still have the same problem. I now suspect that my CISS system may have a faulty chip. What do I do? A/ Simply return the CISS system to your place of purchase within 30 days to exchange for a replacement. Q/ I have just installed CISS into my HP printer and when I go to print photos, there are unusual banning lines through my picture and uneven colors. Is there something wrong with my CISS? How do I fix this? A/ No. There is no problem with CISS. This is often caused in print head model cartridges and their communication with the printer. To remedy this, turn off your computer and re-start. Then select a photo in which you wish to print and all should be well. If not, re-a line the print head (the printer in some cases will ask you to do this after inserting new cartridges) by following the maintenance instructions in you HP software (if applicable) then continue to do a print cleaning cycle in the possible event you have a dirty print head. Once finished, turn off the computer and re-start. For HP CISS without print heads, follow the same steps. Q/ The ¡°Replace Ink¡± light on my Epson printer sometimes stays on suggesting that I replace my ink. What can I do? A/ Firstly, hold down the ink replacement button on the printer for 30 seconds, let go and continue to repeat 3 times if required until the light goes off. Alternatively, turn off the printer for 2 minutes and then on again. If the light continues to stays on, continue with the instructions located in this forum ¡°Incompatible Cartridges¡± question. Q/ My CISS system has been installed correctly, but when I go to print no ink prints on the paper. When I do a cleaning cycle and check the test pattern, it looks and works fine and then the problem starts again. What do I do? A/ Firstly, ¡°revise the obvious first 1-5¡± located in the A/ to the next question and follow the instructions given to determine the problem. (if applicable) If problems persist, you may possibly have a faulty cartridge/s on your new CISS system and simply return the CISS system to your place of purchase within 30 days to exchange for a replacement. Q/ My CISS system has been working great and now one of the colors has stopped printing. What do I do? A/ There could be several reasons because of this so lets ¡°revise the obvious first¡±. 1/ Are your air filters installed into the small rubber bung holes in each Tank? 2/ Have you preformed a recent printer cleaning cycle on your printer which will eventually clear a blocked printer head? 3/ Is there any ink left in the ink Tank? 4/ Is there any ink of that color visible in the supply tubes? 5/ Has the supply tubing been pinched? 1/ Remove the small rubber bung from each Tank and insert an air filter (this allows the system to breath and the ink to flow through the supply tubes to the cartridge) 2/ Run a printer maintenance test before anything else to determine whether a blocked print head is at fault. 3/ Check the ink Tank for sufficient ink as per the instructions located in your guide. 4/ Check that the supply hose has not been pinched or punctured starting from the Tank to the cartridge insertion. If found pinch, reposition and follow the next instruction No 5, If found punctured refrain from printing and obtain a replacement hose. 5/ If the ink color is not visual then you will need to purge the air out of the system which is simple and quick to do.Remove the air filter from the correct colored Tank and insert the syringe. (provided with your CISS system) Gently but firmly pull back and suck out the air from the supply tube until the ink flows back into to the tank. (If this does not occur, please refer to No 6/) Remove syringe and re-insert the air filter. Run a printer maintenance test/s. 6/ We now know that the ink cartridge may be empty and may need to be refilled. Remove the CISS system as per the removal / install instructions located in A/1 in this forum. Upon removal, examination and look at the cartridge to see whether it is empty or fill. If fill, re-install the CISS system as per the removal / install instructions located in A/1 in this forum and continue to run printer maintenance to test for ink flow. To refill the CISS ink cartridge, remove the air filter from the colored Tank, insert the syringe and gently push forward. Continue to half fill the ink cartridge with ink, remove the syringe, re-insert the air filter and proceed to re-install the CISS back into the printer as per previous instruction. 7/ Once installed, turn printer on. Proceed with printer maintenance to test for ink flow and to load ink back into the system. You should now be all set to continue printing. Q/ What is the best way of clearing a stubborn inkjet block? A/ The best way to do this is run several print head cleaning cycles. (this will use a fair bit of ink thank goodness for CISS!) If after 3 cycles the text pattern still shows a block is present, print off 2 or 3 pictures using the coverage of a fill A4 page. This usually does the trick and you will be all set to go again. If not, the block maybe more serious and your printer may need to be serviced. Q/ My ink supply tanks have been accidentally put higher than my printer and ink has flooded my CISS printer cartridges and made a mess inside the printer. What do I do? A/ First, turn off your printer and remove the power cord. Secondly, remove any paper which may be stuck in the printer. Thirdly, using a soft clean dry cloth, (will need to be thrown away after use) sponge out the waste ink inside the printer as best you can. Next, remove the CISS system as per the removal / install instructions located in A/1 in this forum. Upon removal gently using a clean soft dry cloth, clean the ink cartridge, cartridge head and cartridge surroundings with mentholated spirits. Carefully clean inside the ink cartridge holder of spilled ink and proceed to re-install the CISS system as per previous instructions removal / install instructions mentioned previously. Q/ Why did this happen? Is there something wrong with my CISS system? A/ No. The CISS system works on vacuum and gravity, same as if you were to put a cup of water with a hose in the bottom higher than the destination. The gravity and force downward friction is greater, forcing the water through the hose to the destination. If reversed, the water would require pressure or sincere vacuum to ¡°Run Uphill¡± to fill the destination. With CISS the ¡°vacuum¡± is of little so as long as it is placed level with the printer. The little vacuum which occurs only happens when the ink in the cartridge is used therefore no spillage. To avoid this problem: Always keep the CISS tanks at the same level as the printer. Q/ Will the ink in my purchased CISS and replacement inks destroy my printer? A/ No. Our ink¡¯s have been specifically designed to meet the printer manufactures specifications. Third party non-original replacement Ink¡¯s which are not genuine bestEZbuy Technology replacement ink¡¯s, may cause serious damage to your printers print head, resulting in expensive repairs or unrepairable damage. To avoid this - Always ask for genuine replacement bestEZbuy Technology inks. Q/ I have just purchased my new CISS system. Do I need to clear the ink supply tubes from air? A/ BestEZbuy Technologies CISS have been uniquely designed and are ¡°Pre-bled¡± ready for immediate installation. We recommend that if large air bubbles are visible in the ink supply tube prior to install (as air bubbles often work there way into the system during transit) then follow the instruction located in your user guide or guides located on this web-site. If smaller air bubbles are present then this is fine, as they will work them selves out though the system. |
